We are looking for an experienced gymnastics instructor to instruct our gymnastics programs (Parent & Tot, Beginner, and Intermediate Classes) for the upcoming Spring 2024 session. This is a part time paid position (fee for service - not an employee)
The Beginner Programs introduce children (ages 3 - 5) to the fundamentals of gymnastics and equipment through age appropriate activities.
The Intermediate Program will build on participant’s (ages 6 -7 and 8-10) skills developed in the beginner program. Children will learn skills and moves at each level with various apparatuses, while staying within their abilities.
Responsibilities:
Ability to create intentional and creative age appropriate programs
Monitor gymnastics activities of all participants, intervening to correct technique when necessary
Teach skills at each apparatus, following proper progressions
Ability to supervise multiple children at one time and respond to individual needs
Encourage children to interact with one another and resolve occasional arguments/conflict
Plan weekly activities suitable to the programs listed, with progressional skill development
Create fun and interactive program plans
Engaging participants in activities
Effective and efficient problem solving skills and the ability to adapt to quick paced changes in environments and behaviours
Maintain a clean and tidy preschool room space
Comply with cleaning/sanitizing policies as set out in the program manual.
Requirements:
Experience instructing a gymnastics (artistic) based program for various ability levels
Formal Artistic gymnastics training/NCCP certification an asset
Experience working with preschool and school-aged children
Familiarity with Risk management and safety protocols for preschool/school-aged groups
Communication skills to communicate effectively with parents, assistants, and children
Energetic, enthusiastic, and friendly attitude
Able to commit to days and times of a particular program, for full session duration
Ability to sit, stand, walk, reach, climb, kneel and lift up to 25 pounds
