Position Description

Are you enthusiastic about planning events? Then we are looking for you to join our Special Events volunteer team at the Stanley Park Community Centre!


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan, coordinate, and carry out special events on behalf of the SPCA, such as the Halloween party, Pancake breakfast, Santa calls, etc. along with the other committee members.
  • Network with Community Partners to develop relationships benefiting SPCA special events
  • Work within pre-approved budgets to execute events
  • Attend Special Events team meetings. The team meets bi-weekly on Thursday evenings rotating between in-person and virtually using Google Meets.
  • Engage with volunteers for special events and provide direction as needed
  • Take the lead role on 3-4 events per year; we offer approx. 14 events from Sept-June.
  • Assist with majority of events scheduled (including set-up, event and teardown).


Time Commitment:

  • Attend Special Event meetings (every other Thursday from 7-9PM)
  • Must be able to attend the events you are leading (3-4 per year).


Qualifications:

  • Innovation and creativity in planning
  • Attention to detail, ability to multitask
  • Previous experience in some form of special event planning an asset
  • A desire to serve the community is an important value
  • A team player with excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Self-motivated/self-starter
