Children Program Coordinator

Position Description

Support and strengthen recreation programs at SPCA by gathering feedback, sharing ideas, and helping plan engaging programs for the community. A great opportunity to contribute behind the scenes and make a meaningful impact. 


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Engage with and maintain communication with program instructors/volunteers during program sessions: 

    • Fall session - September - Middle of December

    • Winter session - January to March Break

    • Spring session - end of March to June

  • Attend and lead program instructors during Instructor Orientation Day (late summer) 

  • Attend monthly Program Meetings (No meetings in June, July, or December)

  • Provide program feedback and new program ideas at quarterly program meetings

  • Coordinate program cancellation process after registration date and during program sessions and inform key stakeholders

  • Provide direct supervision to the instructors of programs you oversee and troubleshoot/ report any issues that arise

  • Work with Program Co-Leads to provide instructors with feedback and mentorship

  • Distribute and collect program evaluations from instructors and report on program evaluations

  • Be aware of the preschool and ensure that the classroom has the necessary materials to carry out the programs


Time Commitment:

  • Term Length: Seeking a one year commitment to the role (April 2026-March 2027) 

  • Frequency: 

    • Approximately 2 hrs/week to restock material and supplies
    • Approximately 2 hrs/month to attend Program Committee MeetingsApproximately 6 hrs/month to attend programs (first, middle and end) to support instructors/volunteers, complete instructor monitors, answer questions and/or concerns, and answer emails.

Qualifications:

  • Available to commit to Program Coordinator role requirements and attend monthly in-person Program Committee meetings.

  • Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience in recreational programming is an asset.

  • Proven customer service and problem-solving skills.
