Position Description

Position: Café & Kitchen Coordinator 


Location: Stanley Park Community Centre -  505 Franklin Street N. Kitchener, Ontario


Purpose of Position: To manage the inventory, purchasing, and organization of supplies and equipment for the SPCA’s Coffee Corner and cooking programs. 


Position Supervisor: President


Liaisons With: City of Kitchener staff, SPCA staff

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and regularly monitor inventory for the SPCA Coffee Corner and cooking programs. 

  • Take inventory of kitchen staples and replenish supplies as needed.

  • Monitor Coffee Corner supplies and order appropriate quantities of coffee, tea, and other supplies as needed.

  • Complete an inventory of kitchen and cooking program equipment at the end of each session. 

  • Monitor SPCA food and supplies stored in the kitchen and refrigerator and dispose of expired or unusable items as appropriate. 


Risk Assessment Level:

  •  Medium Risk - Position may have access to SPCA financial information and/or an SPCA credit card for approved purchases. 


Time Commitment:

  • Approximately 2-4 hours a month to monitor, take inventory and purchase or order supplies as needed. 

  • Approximately 2-4 hours per program session (4 sessions per year) to complete kitchen equipment inventory. 

  • Additional time may be occasionally required. 


Qualifications:

  • Experience in purchasing, procurement, or inventory management is an asset. 

  • Administrative or inventory management experience is an asset.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • Comfortable working independently and taking responsibility for ongoing tasks.

  • A desire to serve and contribute to the local community. 


Training and Professional Development:

  • Basic Health and Safety, AODA and evacuation training provided

  • Facility Tour and overview of programs and events 

  • Training in specific software or systems used.


Supervision and Accountability:

  • Regular check-ins with supervisor 

  • Purchases must remain within the approved budget and follow SPCA purchasing and expense procedures.
